Contract Type FiledFebruary 10th, 2013The purpose of the internship in Rehabilitation Counseling and Administration is to enable students to experience the full range of the role of the rehabilitation counselor and administrator in an agency setting. Consequently, internships are to provide an intensive and comprehensive supervised opportunity which allows students to integrate counseling, case management, assessment, vocational development and placement and other pertinent rehabilitation counseling job functions. The internship allows the student to place into practice the disability, psychosocial, vocational and other rehabilitation counseling skills acquired during the academic portion of the training program. Some counseling agencies may offer specialized internships for students concentrating their studies in specialty areas such as substance abuse, for example. Other agencies may offer more broadly based internship opportunities.
