A series of trade negotiations and rounds were held under GATT which led to the formation of the developed system for trade. The sole organisation that governs and promotes international trade is the World Trade Organization. The negotiations also produced the Agriculture Agreement, which aims to reduce the countries' agricultural subsidies and other forms of assistance for domestic farmers. Since agriculture provides the primary means of subsistence for the majority of people in developing nations like India, the WTO's globalisation of agriculture is a constant source of worry for them.
