Duke Energy Generation Services (DEGS) entered into a 20-year agreement with Celanese Acetate to own, operate, maintain and upgrade the utility facility in Narrows, Virginia (Celco). Duke Energy Generation Services provides steam, electricity and treated water, among other services. Treated water types include demineralized water, softened water, potable water and well water. All treated water starts out as river water, which is pumped out of the New River. Steam pressures range from 10 psig to 600 psig.
