Summary: The Council and other social housing landlords are required by Government to introduce Choice-based Lettings for the allocation of socially rented homes by 2010. Thanet Council along with other local authorities in Kent have successfully bid to the Government for £100,000 funding to help set up a sub- regional scheme. This paper sets out the background to the project, seeks cabinet approval to enter into a scheme agreement with other councils and Registered Social Landlords in Kent to develop and deliver a CBL scheme across the county.
