Contract Type FiledSeptember 9th, 2011Background: The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes funding to construct a multi-use path within the rail banked Frisco Railroad right-of-way from the I-135 Freeway near Murdock to Oliver at 17th Street. On June 8, 2010, the City Council approved receipt of a Kansas Department of Health and Environment grant that built portions of the path. On August 6, 2010, the Kansas Department of Transportation advised that the project was awarded Transportation Enhancement funding for approximately $1,650,000, with a 30% local match required. A Request for Qualifications was issued on May 16, 2011, to design the complete project. Responses were received from five consultants. On July 7, 2011, the Staff Screening and Selection Committee interviewed three consultants: Baughman Company, Professional Engineering Consultants and Ruggles & Bohm. The Staff Screening and Selection Committee recommended Baughman because of thoroughness in overall approach and specific recommendations at intersection
