FiledFebruary 19th, 2017Purpose & Scope: The Travis County Beekeeper’s Association (TCBA) Youth Mentoring and Scholarship Program is funded by the TCBA in order to promote youth interest and participation in beekeeping, honey production, and apiculture education. The scholarship is open to all school age youths ages 18 years or younger, who are currently enrolled in a school program (public/private/homeschooled). Applicants must reside in Travis or surrounding counties who are serviced by the TCBA. Applicants should be interested in beekeeping, but are not currently beekeepers themselves. Recipients will receive access to a beehive, complete with honeybees, and all necessary equipment to begin their journey into beekeeping. Upon successful completion of the year‐ long mentoring program, the recipient will be awarded ownership of the beehive and equipment, as well as being offered the opportunity to participate in the Texas Master Beekeeper Program.
