This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is entered into by the Ecological Society of America (ESA), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on behalf of the National Biologi- cal Information Infrastructure (NBII), and the U.S. Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) for the purpose of forming a partnership to develop, implement, and maintain the National Vegetation Classifica- tion (NVC) system. This system is critical to the efficient stewardship of the Nation’s biological re- sources.
