Maritime boundaries are clearly defined in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, in 1982. Some countries dispute their maritime borders. That is why the United Nations has paid much attention to this issue, and how disputes that may arise between countries in conflict over their maritime borders can be resolved.
