WHEREAS, the Office for Outer Space Affairs, representing the United Nations (hereinafter referred to as “OOSA”), is responsible for the management and implementation of the programme on the peaceful uses of outer space of the United Nations and the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER), strengthening international cooperation in space activities and in the use of space science and technology for achieving sustainable development, and represents the United Nations in promoting international cooperation in the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space for economic, social and scientific development, in particular for the benefit of developing countries;
