The present Arbitration Act came into effect in 2002, replacing entirely the earlier Arbitration Act of 1979. The new Act is largely based on the UNCITRAL Model Law on Arbitration, and is far more detailed than the Act that it replaced. It represents a further example of Thailand updating its laws to meet international standards.
