The U.S. Department of Education (Department), Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the Laurel County Schools (the District) enter into this Agreement to resolve the above-referenced complaint in order to comply with the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), 20 U.S.C. § 1681, and its implementing regulations at 34 C.F.R. Part 106, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex by recipients of Federal financial assistance. The District, as a recipient of Federal financial assistance, is subject to the requirements of Title IX and its implementing regulations.
