NONREIMBURSABLE SPACE ACT AGREEMENT BETWEENNonreimbursable Space Act Agreement • May 12th, 2020
Contract Type FiledMay 12th, 2020This Agreement is in support of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) COVID-19 High Performance Computing Consortium, and will allow use of the NASA High-End Computing Capability (HECC) Project’s High Performance Computing (HPC) resources hosted by the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) Division located at the Ames Research Center to run molecular dynamics simulations to investigate how a virus interacts with and infects host cells. A specific protein in SARS-COV-2 infections has been observed and will be studied under this collaboration. Using open-source tools, researchers will determine the interaction of this specific protein with surface enzymes on cells, which leads to infection of host cells. This modeling could be used to computationally develop peptide-based inhibitors to prevent the protein/enzyme binding, thus theoretically preventing infection. These inhibitors could then be tested in a wet laboratory to determine efficacy and therapeutic applicatio
