The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ (WDNR) Water Use Program applied for the USGS Water Use Data and Research Grant to aid in the improvement of water- availability data for the State of Wisconsin in collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (WPSC), the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS) and the University of Wisconsin Extension. This workplan and the associated priorities included within have been outlined through a joint effort of these collaborators. Multiple meetings and a Water Use Symposium with stakeholders from a variety of water use sectors were held for finalizing the water research and data priorities for Wisconsin. The priorities were chosen through a combination of need— as deemed by large water users and water data users— and limitations— defined by the current shortcomings in water data availability.
