Spain is one of the countries that has granted the highest number of golden visas in the EU, many of them apparently without proper due diligence as the greater the amount invested in the country, the shorter was the waiting time to obtain the permit (only 3 days in some cases). The campaign supported by this contract aims at increasing scrutiny over applicants to the Spanish golden visa programme through knowledge gathering, a published analysis, and direct advocacy towards decision makers/ key stakeholders, with a special focus on the currently existing rule of silent administrative approval.
