This hosting agreement should be used for researchers from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland invited by a research funding body (university, institution, company, etc.) to conduct research in Sweden for a period of over three months. The research funding body has to be approved under the Act on approval of research organisations to host visiting researchers (2008:290). The research has to be the main purpose of the stay in Sweden.The hosting agreement is a prerequisite for the research funding body to be able to receive the researcher and for the researcher to be able to obtain a residence permit. The agreement constitutes part of the researcher’s application for a residence permit to conduct research or when applying for an extension to their stay. Through the agreement, the research funding body undertakes to receive the researcher and the research undertakes to conduct the research project.
