The student housing contract is a contract of adhesion. A contract of adhesion is drafted and imposed by the party of superior bargaining strength. A residential housing contract is drawn up by the university and presented to you on a take it or leave it basis. At schools where students must live in residential housing there may be an added element of strength on the part of the university. When this requirement exists, housing is a tied product. It is tied to your attendance at the university.
