This was a two-year process which culminated in a recommendation to the RCPD Law Board in October 2015 that the Department initiate a self-insured workers compensation program. This item is of interest because the City pays 80% of the RCPD budget, of which their current amount for insurance is $600,000. Therefore, the City is currently paying $480,000 towards RCPD Worker's Compensation (Worker's Comp) Insurance.
