Purpose/Proposal: The City of Sanford proposes to secure compensation fees as collected by the MaineDEP for projects subjected to the Maine Stormwater Law in the watersheds of Number One Pond and Lower Estes Lake, to reduce urban nonpoint source (NPS) phosphorus pollution to these water bodies. The project involves purchase by the City of Sanford of a regenerative air vacuum street sweeper with a catch basin vacuum, to be used by the City of Sanford and Village of Springvale to remove street dirt from urban streets. Property owners in the project areas will be encouraged to practice environmentally responsible land use and silvicultural practices.
