The City executed an economic development services agreement with the Development Association of Rock Island (DARI) in March 2020. The three-year agreement terminates at the end of December 2022. The partnership has been successful and staff would like to see it continue. It is being recommended that the existing agreement be extended for one more year at the same $300,000 per year cost. This will provide an opportunity for the two parties to develop a more robust economic development strategy with input from the new City Manager. The intention is to bring a longer-term services agreement back to the City Council with that strategy included before the end of 2023.
