The Physician Services Agreement (PSA) 2016 has wide reaching implications for all medical students, residents, and physicians in Ontario. OMSA has been consulting with expert legal counsel, negotiation advisors, and communicating with representative organizations including the Professional Association of Residents of Ontario (PARO), Ontario Medical Association (OMA), and special interest groups. Our work with the Ministry this year to postpone additional residency reductions, combined with our attendance at all OMA Board meetings this year where this agreement was discussed allows us to provide factual information to students, dispel many of the myths and unprofessional dialogue occurring around this agreement, and is the reason for the OMSA Executive endorsing a Yes vote for the 2016 Physician Services Agreement.
