The City Council approved an agreement to provide a School Resource Officer (SRO) at South Daytona Elementary School on July 23, 2019. The term of that agreement was five years containing one (1) base year and four (4) one (1) year renewal options. The base year of that agreement expired on June 30, 2020, the Volusia County School Board and the City of South Daytona are now entering the third renewal of the four possible renewals.
