FiledJune 25th, 2020Subject Verb Agreement The Subject of a sentence is who or what the sentence is about. The Verb is the action that takes place in the sentence. The verb must agree with Subject keeping in mind of person and number of the subject and tense of the sentence. This makes the sentence sound good. Singular subject takes a singular verb and plural subject takes a plural verb. Rule 1: If the noun is singular ,then you must add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to the verb to make it singular The girl jumps the rope at recess. Rule 2: If the noun is plural, then the verb has no ‘s’ or ‘es’ in the end. The girls jump the rope at recess. (plural verb= without ‘s’ or ‘es’) Exceptions: I and you are the exceptions. I and you are both singular subjects. When you use them, you don’t add ‘s’ to the end of the verb. I jump rope at recess. (jumps) You jump rope at recess. (jumps) INSTRUCTION- After going through the explanation, do the exercises in your schoolnotebook.
