Volunteers may perform service in various weather conditions, including rain, sun, heat, wind, cold, or other environmental conditions. Basic functions within the projects include: normal bending, walking, standing, cutting back vegetation with hand tools (including hand saws), hiking on uneven terrain, raking, shoveling, painting, light cleaning, invasive plant removal, pruning, sweeping, hammering/removing nails, spreading gravel/stone dust, spreading mulch, filling pot holes with towpath material, building flower beds, and picking up and carrying supplies or debris are basic functions for the project.
