Page and Woskett (2001 p. 15) assert that the supervision relationship does contain a paradox. The supervisor and supervisee are equal as human beings, equal in their common endeavour to safeguard the best interests of the client, at the same time, however, they are unequal. The supervisor has responsibility to monitor the supervisee’s work to safeguard the interests of the client, if and where necessary placing the client’s needs before that of the supervisee.
