The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) of the United Kingdom and the Dutch Research Council (NWO), operator and manager of the Netherlands Polar Programme (NPP), have had a close and fruitful scientific co-operation since 1989. This cooperation has been covered by several Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) since 1995, with the most recent signed in 2016 and running until the current MoU, which reflects the understanding reached to shape future scientific and logistic cooperation in Antarctica from 2023 and further. This MoU will be automatically renewed for a period of 5 years, with an additional year added as an end date every year, in line with the NWO funding arrangements.
