Contract Type FiledFebruary 3rd, 2017 JurisdictionIn 2009, the City entered into an agreement with MoDOT, kcICON, and the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) to participate in the Operation Green Light (OGL) system. OGL involves synchronization and monitoring of traffic signals to obtain the best traffic flow possible in given situations. The timing of the signals can be changed depending on circumstances. For example, if there was a wreck on I-35, OGL might identify the congestion on the highway and adjust the signals along the Armour Road corridor to allow more time for westbound traffic. OGL’s goal is reduce traffic congestion and air pollution.
