AGREEMENT ON THE INTERNATIONAL DOLPHIN CONSERVATION PROGRAMAgreement on the International Dolphin Conservation Program • July 26th, 2018
Contract Type FiledJuly 26th, 2018From the early 1980’s, the management of eastern tropical Pacific Ocean (ETP) dolphin species and stocks has relied heavily on estimates of abundance from research vessel surveys. The current 12-year hiatus in these surveys, and the problematic nature of monitoring stock status from fishery-dependent data, means that there are presently no reliable indicators with which to monitor the status of ETP dolphin populations. A new ETP survey would be a step towards mitigating this situation.
