The Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (hereafter referred to as the Contracting Parties), desiring to establish favourable conditions for improved economic co-operation between the two countries, and especially for investment by nationals of one Contracting Party in the territory of the other Contracting Party; and acknowledging that offering encouragement and mutual protection to such investments based on international Agreements will contribute towards stimulating business ventures that will foster the prosperity of both Contracting Parties,
