THIS AMENDED AND RESTATED INVESTMENT ADVISORY AND SERVICE AGREEMENT, dated and effective as of the 1st day of January, 2010, is made and entered into by and between AMERICAN MUTUAL FUND, INC., a Maryland corporation (the “Fund”), and CAPITAL RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT COMPANY, a Delaware corporation (the “Investment Adviser”).
