THIS PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT (the “Agreement”) is made this 25th day of August, 2008 among PRINCIPAL VARIABLE CONTRACTS FUNDS, INC., an open-end management investment company organized under the laws of the State of Maryland (“PVC”), PRINCIPAL FUNDS DISTRIBUTOR, INC. (“PFDI”), a principal underwriter for the Class 2 shares of PVC, organized under the laws of the State of Washington (and previously known as WM Funds Distributor, Inc.), and FARMERS NEW WORLD LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY, a life insurance company organized under the laws of the State of Washington (the “Company”) (PVC, PFDI, and the Company collectively, the “parties”), on its own behalf and on behalf of each segregated asset account of the Company set forth on Schedule A, as may be amended from time to time (the “Accounts”).
