Advanced Placement courses at Venice High School are rigorous and equivalent to an introductory level college course. They are intended for students who have demonstrated both the highest level of academic achievement and commitment to hard work. Typically, successful AP students are task-oriented students as well as proficient or advanced readers who are able to organize their time. Students who are already overextended with academics or extracurricular activities should seriously consider whether they have time to devote to an AP course and the number of AP courses they can successfully undertake. Students who struggle with an AP course are expected to commit themselves to a greater effort and seek regular support services, one of which would be tutoring. There is additional support through our partnership with UCLA’s AP Collaborative and various online resources. Please see the College Counselor for more information.
