Academic Probation definition

Academic Probation means a period of time during which a student is under strict academic guidelines as a result of low or failing grades.
Academic Probation means a program of heightened monitoring of an individual in a postgraduate training program imposed because of academic or performance deficiencies.
Academic Probation means a student may be put on a contractual agreement as determined by the Post Secondary Student Support Program Officer based on individual needs, midterm marks and on a case-by-case basis when the student fails to meet the minimum requirements as outlined in the Post Secondary Policy.

  • Students who fail to earn a minimum term institution GPA of a 2.0 while on Academic Probation (cumulative institution GPA remains below 2.0) will be placed on Academic Dismissal.

  • Students who begin any semester term in Good Academic Standing, but fail to maintain a cumulative institution GPA of 2.0 or higher are placed on Academic Probation.

  • Academic Probation status is cleared when students earn both term and cumulative 2.0 institution GPA and returns to Good Academic Standing.

  • If the student has demonstrated unprofessionalism in their field study and a resolution is not possible allowing the student to continue his/her placement, he/she may be placed on academic probation and sent to the Academic Probation Committee.

  • Academic Probation status is cleared when students earn both term and cumulative 2.0 institution GPA and return to Good Academic Standing.
