Academic Standing definition

Academic Standing means any matter covered in a Faculty's academic standing regulations as approved by GFC, its Executive or the GFC Academic Standards Committee (ASC) and as published in the Calendar. Academic standing comprises such matters as continuation in a program, promotion, graduation, and the requirement for a student to withdraw. Unless stated otherwise, changes to academic standing regulations affect new students, continuing students, and students readmitted to a program or Faculty. Students should refer annually to the University Calendar for the academic standing regulations governing their degree programs. (EXEC 12 FEB 2018)

Academic Standing. All participants are expected to fulfill their academic commitments and contribute positively to the school environment. Concerns regarding academic standing of student athletes may be brought to the coach’s attention by classroom teachers. Decisions regarding player eligibility will be made by administration in consultation with the student athlete, coaches, and teachers. Attendance: To develop new skills, students need regular practice and descriptive feedback from coaches and teachers. Therefore, all participants are expected to attend class regularly and attendance at all practices and games is expected. Students may only participate in one (1) team sport per season (fall, winter, spring). Playing Time: Interschool Athletics are competitive by nature. P.E class, practices, etc.). ▪ Students are responsible for replacement costs of uniforms and equipment that are lost or damaged. Fees and Refunds: Refund of fees or part thereof will be considered only if the athlete has stopped playing for a valid reason. This will be determined by the coach, physical education rep., and administration; with administration having the final say in each situation.
