Acting Position definition

Acting Position. Filling a recognized position in the organization with no incumbent. • Waiting for a full-time person to be selected/assigned to that position.
Acting Position means a Member holding a position of responsibility with full authority and allowance which an incumbent has vacated for a specific period of time.
Acting Position means a bargaining unit position filled by an employee who is temporarily doing the duties of an absent employee and who will return to their former positions upon completion of the acting period of absence.

  • In the event there is a temporary vacancy (due to unforeseen illness/injury) and a need for an Acting Position within the Fire Officers Unit, the candidate ranked first by the Fire Chief on the Lieutenants promotional list shall fill said position no sooner than thirty (30) days after the opening occurs and shall be filled no later than forty-five 45 days after the vacancy occurs.
