Atmospheric Control System definition
Atmospheric Control System. The containment atmospheric control system has two functions-to reduce the containment airborne concentrations of radioiodine and particulates to acceptable levels prior to and during occupancy of the containment and to reduce the amount of airborne radioiodine and particulates released to the environment prior to containment purges. The system operates, as needed, prior to and during purging to provide internal cleanup of the containment atmosphere by recirculation through charcoal adsorbers and particulate filters.
