Atypical Provider definition

Atypical Provider means an entity able to enroll as a billing provider (BP) or rendering provider for medical assistance programs related non-health care services but that does not meet the definition of health care provider for National Provider Identification (NPI) purposes.
Atypical Provider means any provider assigned a covered provider type that ODJFS has determined is eligible to provide covered services that are non-health care services (i.e., those services that do not meet the definition of health care services in accordance with 45 C.F.R. 160.103 (2/2006)).

  • Providers must not be under sanction or exclusion from the Medicaid and Medicare programs and must have a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) or Atypical Provider Identifier (API).
