In accordance with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Road and Bridge Specification, Special Provision 105.14, all activities performed under the auspices of a VDOT Land Use Permit involving the installation, maintenance and removal of work zone traffic control devices must have at least one (1) person on-site who, at a minimum, is accredited by VDOT in Basic Work Zone Traffic Control.
The increase in annual leave agreed in 1991 and 1992 from 23 days (184 hours) to 25 days (200 hours) per year does not apply to the employee whose employer concluded an agreement with the trade unions at that time on the grounds of which the Basic Work Year in the company is shorter than the Basic Work Year referred to in the collective agreement.
Basic Work Week: The basic work week shall consist of forty (40) hours.
For FWS, the term Basic Work Requirement means the number of hours, excluding overtime hours, which an employee is required to work or is required to account for by leave or otherwise.
There are hours during which the employee does not work and yet are deemed to be hours worked for the purpose of calculating the Basic Work Year (BWY).
If, in the opinion of the Engineer, any of the contract requirements assuring that the traveled way, within the contract limits, will safely carry traffic are not fully adhered to by the Contractor or their subcontractors, no payment will be made for the Basic Work Zone Traffic Control item and liquidated damages, if any, will also be assessed for that day or days until the violation or violations are corrected to the satisfaction of the Engineer.
This company-specific agreement must include provisions addressing the consequences of the shorter Basic Work Year.
All work, except temporary concrete barrier and pavement striping, will be paid under the Basic Work Zone Traffic Control item unless otherwise noted.
In addition to the Basic Work Year, each regular employee will be paid for five (5) mandatory days and three (3) optional days.
Basic Work Week: The basic work week of a full-time employee shall be forty (40) hours per week consisting of five (5) eight (8) hour days, or alternatively, four (4) ten (10) hour days to be worked as scheduled by the Employer.
