Benign Brain Tumor definition

Benign Brain Tumor means a brain tumor that is not cancerous. Benign Brain Tumor does not include:
Benign Brain Tumor. Benign brain tumour means a non-malignant tumour located in the cranial vault and limited to the brain, meninges or cranial nerves where all of the following conditions are met: • It has undergone surgical removal or, if inoperable, has caused a permanent neurological deficit; and • Its presence must be confirmed by a neurologist or neurosurgeon and supported by findings on Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computerised Tomography, or other reliable imaging techniques. The following are excluded: • Cysts; • Abscess; • Angioma; • Granulomas; • Vascular Malformations; • Haematomas; and • Tumours of the pituitary gland, spinal cord and skull base.
Benign Brain Tumor means a life-threatening, non-cancerous tumor in the brain giving rise to characteristic symptoms of increased intracranial pressure such as papilloedema, mental symptoms, seizures and sensory impairment as confirmed by a consultant neurologist. The presence of the underlying tumor must be confirmed by imaging studies such as Computed Tomography (CT) Scan or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Cysts, granulomas, malformations in or of the arteries or veins of the brain, haematomas, and tumors in the pituitary gland or spine are excluded.
