British Standards definition

British Standards means standards or guidance published produced or approved by the British Standards Institute;
British Standards. (BS) means those standards and specifications approved by the British Standards Institution;
British Standards means formal consensus standards as set out in BS 0-12 paragraph 3.2 and based on the principles of standardisation recognised inter alia in European standardisation policy3 (see Article 2.3 below); and “Other standardisation products” means products having broadly the character of standards, or parts of standards, or services offered to others to assist in the development of such products, which do not wholly comply with one or more of the principles for formal standards.

  • Suppliers must take cognisance of all relevant and pertinent UK and EU legislation in fulfilling the legal requirements to supply goods for sale in the UK market, including but not limited to relevant European Norms (EN) and British Standards (BS).
