British Standards definition

British Standards means standards or guidance published produced or approved by the British Standards Institute;
British Standards and “other standardisation products”;

Examples of British Standards in a sentence

  • Where Indian Standards do not exist British Standards shall apply.

  • Where these Standards do not exist, the relevant British Standards or any other internationally accepted Standard shall apply.

  • All materials used in the works shall be procured by the Contractor unless otherwise specified and shall be of the best quality of their respective kinds as specified herein, obtained from sources and suppliers approved by the Engineer and shall comply strictly with the tests prescribed in the specification with the requirements of the latest issues of the relevant Indian Standards or where Indian Standards are not relevant British Standards.

  • Where Indian and British Standards are named in the specification, the latest current issues, including amendments, if any, issued by the respective standards Institution ,one month prior to the due date of receipt of the Tenders are intended unless specifically stated otherwise.

  • In the absence of such standards, the Goods supplied shall be complied to other internationally accepted standards, such as British Standards.

British Standards means formal consensus standards as set out in BS 0-12 paragraph 3.2 and based on the principles of standardisation recognised inter alia in European standardisation policy3 (see Article 2.3 below); and “Other standardisation products” means products having broadly the character of standards, or parts of standards, or services offered to others to assist in the development of such products, which do not wholly comply with one or more of the principles for formal standards.

British Standards. (BS) means those standards and specification approved by the British Standards Institution;
British Standards means the standards produced by BSI Group under the authority of Royal Charter for the purposes of setting standards of quality for goods and services;
