BTU; MMBTU. : "BTU" means a British thermal unit. A British thermal unit is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one pound of pure water from fifty-nine degrees Fahrenheit (590 F.) to sixty degrees Fahrenheit (600 F.) at a constant pressure of 14.73 pounds per square inch absolute. "MMBTU" means one million (1,000,000) BTUs.
