Civic Leave definition

Civic Leave. A Member elected to public office shall be granted civic leave not to exceed two (2) days per month. Such leave shall be without pay.
Civic Leave. Faculty members shall receive time off with pay for required appearances in 37 court or hearings resulting from a call to jury duty or subpoena to appear to testify where 38 the faculty member is not personally involved in the action as the plaintiff, the defendant, 39 or the object of the investigation. 40 A. Any remuneration received for such appearances held on a workday, less travel 41 costs, shall be endorsed to the Employer. 42
Civic Leave. For any employee who is required to report for jury service or to testify in any legal proceeding as a result of a subpoena, a copy of which shall be supplied to the employer upon request.

Examples of Civic Leave in a sentence

  • Time involved in Personal Leave or time in excess of five (5) years on Civic Leave shall not be counted as creditable service for seniority purposes, and the seniority date shall be advanced accordingly.

  • Employees upon written request to the Chair/Director of the department in which they are employed, supported by a copy of the summons, shall be granted Civic Leave.

  • Work missed due to order of the court shall be regarded as Civic Leave, which shall be without loss of pay.

  • Employees who have an appointment or appointments totaling one hundred and twenty (120) hours or more in an academic session and upon written request to the Chair/Director of the department in which they are employed, supported by a copy of the summons, shall be granted Civic Leave.

  • An employee shall be eligible to apply for Civic Leave with pay when performing volunteer work for a bona fide charitable organization or cause, (i.e. Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Cancer Society, or any other community or nationally recognized nonprofit, nonpartisan organization.) Requests for paid Civic Leave shall be made in writing to the Division Director, at least two (2) weeks in advance of proposed leave.

  • Any employee on Civic Leave shall notify the charitable organization involved of the County's participation, and shall identify the County as his/her sponsor.

  • Civic Leave may be granted for essential civic responsibilities as approved by the Superintendent.

  • Civic Leave may be granted at the sole discretion of the Division Director, but shall not exceed sixteen hours per employee per calendar year.

  • Civic Leave will be granted up to a maximum of twelve (12) days to each employee per fiscal year, to be retroactive back until April Employees do not "earn" Civic Leave credits.

  • Employees requesting Civic Leave must submit written requests for approval.
