College Readiness. Weekly class on strategies for succeeding in college, including study skills, time management, accessing on-campus resources, interviewing and hiring and utilizing human readers; Counseling on opportunities for enrollment in comprehensive transition or postsecondary educational programs; Enrollment in one course as a visiting student at Louisiana Tech University, including tuition, books, supplies, and readers; Academic tutoring in identified subject areas • Professional Testing, e.g. ACT, SAT, TOEFL, GRE, LSAT, Civil Service Exam, etcetera: Assessing knowledge of related subject areas via practice exams; Providing remediation in identified areas of need; Measuring progress through practice exams; Academic tutoring in identified subject areas; Completion of application and supporting documents for test registration; Scheduling and administration of exam. (Note: Louisiana Center for the Blind is an approved testing site.)‌ LCB’s training program is set up to simulate a full-time job, with a forty-hour work week and expectations similar to that of an employer regarding attendance, productivity, communication skills, and professional behavior/attitude. Workplace readiness skills describe a number of commonly expected skills that employers seek from most employees at any job. Work readiness skills are sometimes called soft skills, employability skills, or job readiness skills. These abilities help clients learn how to interact with supervisors and co-workers. They help reinforce the importance of timeliness and build an understanding of how we are perceived by others. Employers value employees who can communicate effectively and act professionally. No matter what technical skills a job may require, every job requires good social skills/interpersonal skills. These workplace readiness skills are developed each day as clients interact with staff members and their classmates. Seminar classes and in-service speakers are also scheduled to focus specifically on job readiness skills.

College Readiness means that a student has the English and mathematics skills and knowledge needed to succeed in college level courses that count toward a degree or certificate without taking remedial or developmental coursework.

Examples of College Readiness in a sentence

  • If as part of the Annual Certification process or otherwise AVID Center suggests certain changes be made to School System’s AVID College Readiness System, School System agrees to implement such changes.

  • In the spirit of the College Readiness and Completion Act of 2013, this Agreement encourages the completion of all associate degree requirements.
