DEPENDENT CHILD OR CHILDREN definition
DEPENDENT CHILD OR CHILDREN means any natural child, step child or legally adopted child of the Insured Student, who is 20 years of age and under, unmarried and receives full support and maintenance from the Insured Student, or 21 years of age but less than 25 years of age, unmarried and receives full support and maintenance from the Insured Student for reason of full-time attendance at an accredited institute, college or university in Canada or receives full support and maintenance from the Insured Student by reason of mental or physical infirmity, is a resident of Canada and is covered under the provincial health insurance plan.
DEPENDENT CHILD OR CHILDREN means any child of the Officer who, on the date of any payment under this Agreement, is 18 years of age or under, is 24 years of age or under and is a “student” as defined in Section 151(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, or is a “substantially handicapped person.” The term “child” includes any naturally born or legally adopted child; provided, in the case of an adopted child, that the adoption became final prior to such child’s 18th birthday. The term “substantially handicapped person” includes any person who has a “physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities,” as those terms are defined in 29 C.F.R. Section 32.3.
DEPENDENT CHILD OR CHILDREN means those children, including adopted children and those children placed for adoption, who are primarily dependent upon the Insured Person for maintenance and support, and who are: 1) under the age of twenty-three (23) and reside with the Insured Person; or 2) beyond the age of twenty-three (23), permanently mentally or physically challenged, and incapable of self-support.

DEPENDENT CHILD OR CHILDREN means any unmarried child under the age of nineteen (19) or under the age of twenty-four (24) if a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university; said term includes natural children, adopted children, stepchildren and ▇▇▇▇▇▇ children reported by the Participant as dependents for Federal Income Tax purposes at the time of such Participant's death or retirement from active service. It shall not include any child born more than nine (9) months after the Participant's retirement from active service. If there is more than one child entitled to receive death benefits in accordance with Article VII, such sum shall be divided equally among them. Payments due to such child or children shall be made to their legal guardian or, if they have no legal guardian, to such other person to expend for them as the Retirement Board may direct.
