Directly illuminated sign definition

Directly illuminated sign means any sign designed to provide artificial light, either transmitted through exposed lighting (including tubing or lamps) on the sign face, or through transparent or translucent material from a light source within the sign.
Directly illuminated sign means any sign where the source of illumination of the sign, such as, but not limited to, an incandescent bulb, neon tube or florescent tube, is visible to a person standing on the ground, excepting lighting that has been approved by the Planning Commission or City Council as architectural lighting for the building.
Directly illuminated sign means a sign with its light source as an integral part of the sign, including interior lighting and backlighting.
