Drainage fixture unit definition
Drainage fixture unit. (dfu) means a measurement unit for potential water use for a given plumbing fixture or appliance, as provided for in the International Plumbing Code and the Uniform Plumbing Code.
Drainage fixture unit or “DFU” means a quantity in terms of which the load-producing effects on the plumbing system of different types of fixtures are expressed. DFU values are defined in Chapter 7 of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).
