E Horizon definition
E Horizon means the layer commonly near the surface below the A Horizon and above the B Horizon. An E Horizon is the most commonly differentiated from an overlying A Horizon by lighter color and generally, has measurably less organic matter, and from the underlying B Horizon in the same sequum by color of higher value or lower chroma, by coarser texture, or by a combination of these properties.
E Horizon means a mineral soil horizon in which the main feature is loss of organic matter, silicate clay, iron, or aluminum, or some combination of these, leaving a concentration of sand and silt particles.
