  • Should the Ministry of Education initiate discussions regarding standardized credentials for Education Assistants, the provincial parties will each send a letter to request participation in the process.

  • Education Assistants may be granted up to two (2) days of leave with pay per year for observance of religious holidays.

  • In the years that it is necessary for some Education Assistants to have three (3) days for religious observances, an additional day may be granted upon application to the Executive Director of Human Resources for approval.

  • The Parties agree to continue the Education Assistants Committee charged with the responsibility of investigating and making recommendations regarding possibilities for the creation of whole Education Assistant jobs, and for the deployment of Education Assistant staff in accordance with recognized best practices.

  • Education Assistants whose work day is five (5) hours or more are entitled to thirty (30) minutes unpaid duty free lunch.

  • Teachers are not responsible for completing performance reviews on Education Assistants, but may provide input into performance reviews at the request of the Principal.

  • Education Assistants may be used to supplement but not take the place of qualified professional personnel as covered in this agreement.

  • Special Education Assistants in the citywide program at this site will be canvassed in seniority order giving them the option to be excessed.

  • The parties have agreed to amend the coverage clauses of the SSSCA and the KRCA to provide for a change in coverage for ATSSDs and Special Education Assistants from the KRCA to the SSSCA, as these employees have the same pay rates, and their work is described in the same work matrix, as teacher aides.
