Education Award definition

Education Award means an award provided to a member who has successfully completed a required term of service in an approved national service position and who otherwise meets the eligibility criteria established by AmeriCorps. An education award may be used to pay qualified educational expenses.

Examples of Education Award in a sentence

  • If the Member is released without a compelling reason, the Member will receive no portion of the Education Award.

  • The Member must use the Education Award within seven years of the completion of the AmeriCorps service.

  • The PSLF program allows an exception for AmeriCorps alums to make a lump sum payment using the AmeriCorps ▇▇▇▇▇ Education Award and receive credit for up to 12 qualifying payments for PSLF.

  • Additionally, loan payments made using the ▇▇▇▇▇ Education Award may count toward PSLF, even if the loan(s) are put into deferment or forbearance during service.

  • After the 25th calendar day, the request will be denied and the Member will be released from service for cause – unsatisfactory performance, without an Education Award.

  • Failure to earn hours during planned site closures could result in the Member falling short of the minimum required hours and the Member would not qualify for the ▇▇▇▇▇ AmeriCorps Education Award.

  • The classification of tutors and teachers is in accordance with the Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award 2010 (ESPS award), except for the following modifications which reflect the specific requirements of neighbourhood houses and adult and community education centres.

  • The Member must successfully complete the term of service hours as stated above to be eligible for the Education Award.

  • The Member may be eligible for a prorated Education Award if the Member is released due to compelling personal circumstances and has completed at least 15% of their total hours of service.

  • The Department will ensure that the “Recognition of Prior Learning” committee proscribed in the relevant award will be convened and will ensure that there is access to Community Education Counsellors to the progression arrangements outlined in the Teaching in State Education Award – State 2016.
