ELL services means instructional and support personnel and
ELL services refers to assistance afforded to ▇▇▇▇ for the purpose of teaching the English language or to render substantive educational content accessible, whether in the context of an ELL program specifically designed for ▇▇▇▇ or in a classroom where ▇▇▇▇ and non-▇▇▇▇ are educated. Services may include English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Development (ELD), Sheltered English Immersion (SEI), transitional bilingual education, and/or two-way bilingual instruction.
ELL services in the District include ESL instruction by a certified ESL teacher and language support in core content classes by teachers who have received training in content-based ESL and sheltering methodologies.

  • The Charter School agrees to maintain and consistently implement a policy to identify students in need of ELL services, to provide services in an equitable manner to ensure meaningful access to the school’s educational program (including the provision of appropriate accommodations), and to facilitate obtaining English proficiency and exit from ELL services according to individual student capacity.

This Agreement merely recognizes that the State of Arizona requires the SEI program in this District and does not reflect a determination regarding the program’s compliance with federal law. The United States reserves all rights on this issue.
