Examples of Extended Illness in a sentence
Employees shall accrue forty-eight (48) hours per year (prorated for part-time employees) into the Extended Illness Bank (EIB) for use in the event of extended illness.
The Extended Illness Bank is separate from and is not to be used as PTO.
Eligibility for Extended Illness Leave includes completion of employee’s probationary period.
Non-occupational or Occupational Extended Illness Leave of Absence: Seniority for all dates will be retained and continue to accrue for the duration of the leave.
If an employee purchases the short-term disability insurance plan and incurs hours of leave that would qualify for both short-term disability and Extended Illness Bank paid leave, the employee may elect to use either short-term disability leave or Extended Illness Bank hours.
An illness or accident resulting in hospitalization or surgery, however, will be paid from the Extended Illness Bank from the first day.

A teacher may request to use up to thirty (30) days of accumulated sick leave for adoption, without access to the Extended Illness Sick Leave Pool to assist in preparation and legal reasons of the adoption, as well as necessary travel and initial adjustment of the child.
A teacher (other than the mother) may utilize up to thirty (30) days of sick leave in connection with the birth of their child, without access to the Extended Illness Sick Leave Pool.
Thereafter, if the employee remains unable to return to work, the employee will be placed on Extended Illness Status.
